In the fifth through twelfth grades numerical grades are
given. Grades are given for all classes, including electives,
in grades seven through twelve.
Comprehensive final examinations will be given in all academic
courses in the secondary school (grades 7-12). The examination
score comprises 20% of the course average. The following
applies to specific circumstances related to the administration
and/or nature of final examinations:
- Students in the secondary school (grade 7-12) are to
attend the final exam week.
- In courses for which there is a Regents exam, a practice
test will be administered during final exam week and count
toward the fourth quarter grade.
- In courses for which there is a Regents exam, the
Regents will be taken by all enrolled students and will
count as
the final exam. When a student retakes a Regents exam,
by choice or as required due to failure (see below), only
the
highest of the exam scores will be recorded on the student’s
official transcript. This score will be used to calculate
the course average and the student’s overall grade
point average.
- In Advanced Placement courses, the AP examination
will be administered on the designated day and a teacher-generated
cumulative final exam will be given soon thereafter.
Another
test will be given during final exam week and will cover
the material taught subsequent to the cumulative exam
and will count as a unit exam.
- No final examination will be given for the Senior
Bible or English courses due to the nature of these
courses.
The final average in all courses that are exclusively
accelerated will be increased by 8% as the student
is working above
grade level and the demands and expectations of these
courses exceed
those of grade level courses. The high school transcripts
will show both weighted and non-weighted grade point
averages.
