Financial Aid HOW TO PAY FOR COLLEGE All need based financial aid is based on the FAFSA form. This form can be found online or at the guidance office after the first of the year. All colleges use this form to determine financial aid. Most colleges can do a financial aid predictor upon request. We recommend that you talk with the individual financial aid office for all direct questions. We have found them to be extremely helpful.
A grant in aid is free money. Grants are based on academic scholarship, athletics, music, or any other special talent or circumstance. Most schools will automatically let you know if you qualify for these grants. The twenty-two students from the LCS Class of 2004 received over 1.2 million dollars in scholarship. This did not include financial aid.
At Loudonville Christian School, counselors will work with students and their parents throughout their high school career, advising them on the best way to be a strong candidate for scholarships.
Our experience has been that national scholarships are much more difficult to obtain than local scholarships. Therefore, we recommend that our students apply for local scholarships. We will let the students know when scholarship applications arrive.
As you are considering colleges, we recommend that you do not eliminate a school because of cost until you have received your financial aid package. If you simply compare costs and do not consider the entire financial aid package offered, you may eliminate a college of your choice needlessly.
Our counselors are more than willing to talk with any parent and student to discuss financial aid or any other related topic. We do not recommend the paid use of private financial advisors. These services are very expensive and although they are very skilled at their work, we have the advantage of knowing our students and helping them find a college that meets their needs, while also assisting them in securing financial aid needed to go to the college of their choice.
