Specific programs are planned at each school grade level starting with 7th grade to discuss issues pertinent to each student. Counselors will meet with 7th Grade students in a group setting during the first few weeks of school. This meeting will cover topics such as the study habits and organizational skills needed for success in junior high. Students will further be reminded what to do if they need extra help. During February, 8th Grade students and their parents will attend a formal meeting to discuss the “lay out of the high school.” This will give students and parents information about all classes and testing (local and state) they will encounter as a student of Loudonville Christian School. Grade 9 students will meet in small groups to discuss high school expectations. These meetings will take place two weeks after school starts. A brief introduction to parents will be held in September during “Back to School Night” night. Students in Grade 10 meet with their counselor and their parents to discuss at length career goals and pathways for achieving these career goals. At this conference the student’s total high school program is reviewed and post high school plans are discussed. Grade 11 students and their parents attend a formal college information night in March. In the days following the Junior Parent night, student and parents will meet individually with their counselor to discuss post high school plans. Grade 12 students and parents will meet again with their counselor in the fall to further discuss post high school plans. There is a constant monitoring of senior progress to ensure that all graduation requirements will be met. The guidance department in October hosts a financial aid information night during the Christian College Fair. Seniors will also attend College Information Day at the Empire State Plaza. Over 250 colleges will be represented. College application deadlines force seniors to make decisions regarding college choices as early as November. In December, alumni from the previous senior class return to share their thoughts about the transition from high school to college and the world of work. Throughout the school year all students, prek-12th will have their academic progress monitored. It is our every intention that each student lives up to theIr potential. We are committed to working as a team with parents and teachers to assist in the overall education of the student. 2004-2005 Counselor Breakdown Grades Pre K-6th will be the responsibility of the Director of Guidance. | | Grade 7 | Grade 8 | Grade 9 | Grade 10 | Grade 11 | Grade 12 | | Miss.
