Guidance Department

Students in school face many challenges—academic, social and personal. At Loudonville Christian School, guidance counselors work as a team with students, teachers and parents to advise students on how to reach their goals and become successful members of the community. More importantly, our counselors listen. Our goal is to help all children develop self-confidence, self-esteem, direction and a belief that they can succeed in learning. Our mission is not simply to prepare students for college; it is to work with them on life choices. This job is impossible without the help of the Lord. We hope to look at our students through the eyes of Christ, for He is the true counselor.

The Guidance Department consists of two counselors who share responsibility for approximately 300 students. The guidance staff is centrally located in private offices on the second floor across from the Sixth Grade class.

The Department offers a variety of services throughout the academic year for the entire school population. The ultimate goal is for students to grow in self-understanding, and to have a realistic knowledge of their strengths and weaknesses. All students are encouraged to make their own decisions, and are counseled to look at decision-making as a process, rather then random event.

Students will have the same counselor each year, starting in Grade 7, and continuing through Grade 12 of high school. This continuity will allow both student and counselor to develop a sense of trust and confidence in each other. Although each counselor has responsibility for his or her students, all counselors work well together in helping students, to ensure that individual needs can be met.

Our goal at Loudonville Christian School is that every student and parent knows, and feels comfortable meeting with, their counselor. As a Christ-centered school, we strive to exhibit those traits that are consistent with the teaching of the Bible. The guidance team has chosen Jeremiah 29: 11-13 to be our Department's verse and belief: "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart!" Our prayer is that God uses us in His plan for your son or daughter.

We look forward to meeting with you in the future.
