Spiritual Life

School community gathers at the flagpole for prayer

"...I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.  Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.  Make every effort to keep unity of the spirit through the bond of peace.”       Ephesians 4: 1b-3

We want to train and graduate world-changers for the Kingdom. To have students who are willing to go and do whatever the Lord requires. Loudonville Christian School wants to be known for training missionaries for all fields and regions in God’s world. We challenge our students to be radical for Christ. At a time when the world offers competing values students need a foundation that is firmly established in God’s word.

Loudonville Christian School is intentional about its faith. The “Christian” in LCS exists in more than the name. Effective spiritual ministry does not happen haphazardly. It is not an accident. It is part of a conscientious effort to live out our mission of giving students an “evangelical view of God and the world” (LCS mission statement).

Beginning in the vision statement, Loudonville Christian School articulates a school goal of “equipping young people to have the mind of Christ” and further states that the school will be “distinctively Christian”.

Walking the walk

Loudonville students are doing a great job of ministering to others in word and deed. The spiritual fervor is evident in chapels is spilling over to the community. Students continue to share at chapels. This year’s musical concerts were truly worshipful events.

Students and staff share their love in a variety of ways. Some examples of faith in a

  • High School class chaplains and friends of chaplains have been meeting for prayer and Bible study on prayer every Wednesday during lunch. We've been asked by Shaker High to pray and fast for Shaker. The High School Student Government is calling for a fast on the 5th and 6th of January.
  • 7th graders will be sharing parable skits at the Veterans' Administration Hospital in February .
  • 8th graders are preparing a devotion based on Proverbs for kids in juvenile detention.
  • An evangelistic service field trip is being planned for the 9th and 10th graders.
  • Students and their families collected about 300 boxes for Operation Christmas Child.
  • Juniors and Seniors are doing ministry as part of the curriculum.
  • In Bible classes, students are being encouraged to pray for local public schools and to find ways of doing Matthew 25:31-40 ministry.
  • Each student is in process of memorizing 20 verses this year using the Navigators' Topical Memory System.
  • Seniors are spending time with their 4th grade buddies. We've written cards for soldiers, shopped together for Operation Christmas Child and prayed together.
  • God has answered prayer and provided us with a Junior High Worship Team led by Mary Wolfe.
  • Senior High Chapels have been amazing. Our High School Worship Team demonstrates excellence. Four students shared on their mission trip to India and Pastor Marcelle challenged the LCS community to rethink the way we do church so that we are able to reach the lost. Pastor Stan Key challenged students to give God their will which is the only thing God really wants. Students who attended the Leadership Conference led students in prayer and discussion groups based on Pastor Stan's message.
  • All School Thanksgiving and Christmas Chapels highlighted many students.
  • Junior High Student Government collected food for the City Mission.
  • Mary Hill organized a Children's
    Book Drive
for the Whitney Young Clinic in Arbor Hill.
  • Sophomore girls have been meeting regularly for prayer.
  • Faculty devotions are a time of strengthening.

    • 10th Grade went to the Ronald McDonald House.
    • 9th Grade served at the JC Club.
    • 7th and 8th Grades sang at the Albany County Nursing Home.
    • All classes had a time of fellowship as part of the day.

  • The High School Retreat was a great time of refreshing and relationship building.

Please continue to pray as our young people strive to serve the Lord.

Current Needs:

  • That students would continue to step into leadership roles and organize prayer and fast times, witness events and service opportunities.
  • That the gospel of forgiveness would penetrate and saturate our public schools and that God would use LCS faculty and students in this revival.
  • That God speaks to and through our kids in their participation at Youth For Christ's EXCEL.
  • That Satan would be unable to snatch away or destroy the work that God is doing in the lives of individuals.
