State of the School
January 19, 2018
It is with a grateful heart that I extend greetings from Loudonville Christian School!
Loudonville Christian School is in our 58th year of Christian service to the Capital District, and I am eager to see how the Lord will continue to shower His faithfulness on LCS over the next 50 years, or until He comes again.
As the Head of School, I am reminded daily of the passion and enthusiasm you hold for our school and the sincere desire to make this a successful and vibrant school which strives to cultivate “faith that overcomes the world” in each student. I remain so thankful for you, our LCS families, who continue to partner with us as LCS continues to provide a quality, spirit filled education, as we equip our students to be ready to be launched into the world.
The Bible says that the mind is the key to becoming conformed to the likeness of Christ and that once we become Christians we should be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). What our students do with their minds is important to the Lord and LCS is dedicated to help each student comprehend that their transformed, renewed mind begins with the new birth in Christ and progressively develops by academic and spiritual studies in which the Bible is central to learning and living. What an exciting privilege it is to voyage with your family in this eternal journey with your children!
As LCS begins our reenrollment process for the 2018-19 school year, several thoughts come to mind. Most specifically, I have a sense that God desires to do some amazing things in the life of LCS as we go forward. The Lord has gathered an amazing team of dedicated faculty and staff, and an administrative team that has vision for capturing the hearts and minds of our students for the Lord while seeking excellence in carrying out His plan. A Scripture passage that I have claimed in this regard follows: “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
As parents, the question begs to be answered: What does the Lord desire for my family? I know that our LCS families look at their budgets, pray for guidance on where they will set their priorities and how they can afford LCS. I know especially during these unpredictable times, that your continued association with Loudonville Christian School can have not only a long-lasting impact on each student, but one with eternal implications as well.
LCS has several parents who have been laid off from their jobs, other families who are facing the possibility of a decrease of hours which has the potential to affect their Health Care, over-time, and other significant benefits. The ongoing necessity to seek the Lord’s divine guidance for your family could never be more crucial.
I do want to report that many of the families who I have sat down with over the past few years, have now found employment. God does answer our prayers!
Many noteworthy items concerning LCS come to mind to give all the glory to God:
- 2017-18 school year increased enrollment by more than 5%
- LCS students graduate with an average of 26.5 college credits
- Loudonville Christian School has a well-established Endowment
- Award $431,917 in financial assistance to LCS families
- Loudonville Christian School is debt free... Praise God!
- LCS PK-12 students provide our local Capital District with over 5,000 community service hours
- Our new 7-12 student government, Prefect System, affords our students with voice and value
- To provide ease for our families with the use of technology, LCS is simplifying our registration to an online reenrollment process through RenWeb
Our LCS School Board and I work diligently to keep our tuition rates manageable and accessible for our LCS families. Once again, LCS will have a tuition increase of 3% for the 2018-19 school year. LCS is aggressive in our financial assistance and we desire to work with families to make our school an option for them. Our tuition is what pays for the quality of our programs, provides the salaries for our excellent faculty and staff, and allows LCS to enhance our educational curriculum.
Since LCS is a ministry of Loudonville Community Church (LCC), their financial partnership allows for LCS to charge less than the true cost to educate. LCC covers our utilities, oversees our Compelling Need building improvements, provides maintenance support, ice removal, lawn care, and keeps our school spotless! Thank you LCC!
Friends, my continued prayer for each of us associated with LCS is that as a school family we would:
PRAY that God continues to bless us,
PROMOTE LCS throughout the Capital District community,
PARTICIPATE in the life of the school on a daily basis, during special events and
PRAISE God for all that He is doing and will continue to do in the life of the school!
My pledge to you is that LCS will remain committed to academic excellence and a community that places a high priority on prayer and on honoring God in all that we do.
The Lord has His hand upon our school and we praise and give Him all of the glory!
In His palm together,
Mrs. Kathryn Hills
Head of School
